A Deeply Zionist... Pakistani Muslim?!

Guys, I’m still frankly in a bit of shock from what happened earlier today.

One of the most eye-opening, impressive and truly incredible supporters of Israel came to speak today at my work.

Who could it be?

Mike Bloomberg? Ron Lauder?

Maybe a cabinet minister? A former prime minister?

These guys are all either current donors or otherwise periodic visitors, etc.

NO.

It’s NONE of them.

Out of nowhere, this morning, we get the request, show up to the visitors’ center for a speech by a visiting Honorary Fellow.

Oh yeah, she’s a British Pakistani doctor — and devout Muslim - from America.

Hm, fascinating. Ok, sure.

We arrive, I introduce myself.

She’s Dr. Qanta Ahmed, professor of sleep disorders at NYU.

I introduce myself, say I’m a former New Yorker.

The President introduces her, saying she calls herself…

“An Accidental Zionist…”

Here’s where the crazy story starts.

She came of her own volition to see with her own eyes what happened in Kibbutz Beeri.

She went to see the gruesome burnt corpses and body parts at Abu Kabir Forensic Institute.

She saw the 45+ minute graphic compilation video released to the media last week by the IDF.

In other words, she is more well-versed on everything that happened from seeing and experiencing the aftermath of the horrors than 99% of Israelis and Jews.

She knows the details of the geography, timeline, down to the dental records specialists are trying to identify after finding bodies burned beyond… 700 Celsius (she says accelerants like kerosene were clearly and purposely used).

She described with chilling detail the insane level of planning and preparation and due diligence undertaken by the Hamas special Nuqba unit that attacked.

These fuckers knew exactly who lived in which house (!!!!!!) and targeted the specifically, going house to house, looking to butcher and burn and rape and decapitate and dismember and torture everyone.

From the video, they were all too lucid and in control from the first moment.

In other words, whatever substance they were supposedly on (captagon, poor man’s cocaine) in no way hindered their judgment or bloodthirst.

The detail of what she related to us was well beyond chilling.

Why did she come?

Because she’s a Technion Fellow?

No, clearly this isn’t about sleep disorders.

She says… it’s her religious duty as a Muslim.

Mind you, she’s not an Israeli Arab Muslim (rare, but not exactly unheard of, as sympathetic to Israeli Jews who went through the massacres).

You can imagine the reaction of everyone gathered in the room.

It’s clearly a deeply held, genuine belief for her.

She told us more about her non-sleep work.

She’s been to multiple conflict zones where Islamic fundamentalists committed crimes against humanity.

The ISIS genocide of Yazidis.

The Taliban’s genocide in Afghanistan.

She was in Saudi Arabia (as a woman doctor, mind you) on 9/11, seeing the celebrating by Wahhabists who had planned and carried off the attacks.

HOOOOLY SHIT.

She went on to tell us about her Twitter posts about what she learned in Beeri, at Abu Kabir and from the IDF’s video.

She says many in her family deeply oppose her visit and support of Israel.

Many in her professional and community circles are dead set against what she writes and says.

Later, I find out she’s been on Fox News and other channels talking about Israel and Hamas’s crimes against humanity openly.

Frankly, it’s hard not to cry after listening to her make our case better — MUCH better - than we can make it ourselves.

We’re like children in a sandbox while she’s engaging in real statesmanship at the highest level.

Except that it’s not for politics or any other reason than truth-telling.

How many people like does one meet in life, at such a high level?

Maybe 1 or 2, if one’s lucky?

It’s quite hard to overstate what this means for us traumatized Israelis in the middle of a war, vilified by what seems like the entire world, more worried about Jews outside Israel than even ourselves, as the rockets fly, as we clean out Gaza, as we wait for metal rain from the North, as the West Bank lights up from Iran’s weapons smuggling, as Iran launches rockets and mortars from Syria, as Yemen launches long-range missiles.

Today, a kidnapped soldier was miraculously freed.

Even though the campaign in Gaza started super late.

There are miracles happening all the time.

We only learn about them later.

But few are as stark and positively lightning-like as Dr. Qanta Ahmed.

I thanked her profoundly, asked her for practical tips to fight the media war more effectively.

Not surprisingly, she has excellent suggestions that I hope leadership will heed.

Let’s pray for the tide to continue turning in our favor.

We will win.

Take heart, my fellow MOTs and good humans around the world.

Things look bleak right now in the U.S. and Europe and here in Israel.

But make no mistake.

Our cause is just.

We are united.

We will make Hamas extinct shortly.

We will triumph, with G-d’s help.
